Through Space & Time | Asheville, NC Elopement

On April Fools Day, 2017- I ventured to Asheville, NC with Hillary & Matthew to document their very private elopement. Every detail was carefully selected and most were handmade, including Hillarys gown. These two love birds have an overflowing eclectic love for all things "geekery". There were hints of The Assasin, an air of Hogwarts, and tiny little Tardis Blue details everywhere.

I have no more words for this post because my words will simply not do. My words won't define their love. Instead, I'll let you read the vows that Matthew and Hillary read to one another as I could barely see through my viewfinder between wiping the happy tears that flowed! Congratulations, you two! I wish you many years of love and happiness!

From Matthew. "I’ve spent most of my life trying to figure out who I am and what I want in this world. I might still be working on the first one, but I know that I’ve found what I want in this life, and that is without question the woman standing in front of me. It took me far too long to realize it, but now that I’ve come to my senses, I want to make these promises to you in the presence of the Lord.

I vow to always be honest with you and never cheat on you physically or emotionally.

I vow to never steal from you…except of course when I stole your heart.

I vow to show you the same warmth, kindness and respect that you bring to my life.

I vow to do everything in my power to fulfill your every need and to make you feel loved each and every day of our lives.

You’ve taught me so much about myself over the past year, and you’ve supported me in all of my endevors…

WELL, you’ve been there for me throughout my overloaded schedule…WELL, you’ve endured begrudgingly.
BUT because of your patience and willingness to be there for me no matter what, I’ve come to realize that I am a better person because of you. You’ve taught me what it means to truly love someone, and why I should never pull away from that love – no matter how many obstacles we may face. You are, and always will be, my companion for life. It means the world to me that you’ve been willing to put up with my many flaws.
I’ve made you wait far too long for us to be together, but now that we are about to set out on our lifelong adventure, I just wanted to say…to the girl who waited… You’ve waited long enough."

From Hillary, "It’s hard to believe that we have known each over half of our lives. Nineteen years now, and fifteen of those years I have waited for you. So here I am, the girl who waited, ready to stand by your side and be your companion throughout all of space and time. I will be by your side, holding your hand for every adventure and misadventure that we embark on. And I have come before you today to pledge you my friendship and my love from today to the day we take our last breath.

I promise to always be your Viking shield maiden, and fight fiercely for you.

I will fight for our future together, no matter what challenges we face.

I will fight for your dreams as passionately as I will fight for mine, because you are my dream.

Sometimes I will fight with you, because I promise to be open, honest and truthful with you; even when you don’t like what I have to say.

But most of all I will fight for our love, to keep it strong, even when life tests our resolve.

I promise to always be your best friend and to grow old with you, but to never grow up! I promise to jump in rain puddles with you, and dress like a t-rex and chase you around the neighborhood. I promise that there will be taco Tuesdays and Avengers waffles on Saturdays… or cereal if I’m feeling lazy. I promise to make you soup in your Power Rangers bowl and take care of you when you are sick. And at the end of the day I will lie in your arms as I drift off to sleep and know that I am home, because home is wherever I am with you. We’re all stories in the end, so let’s make ours a good one,  eh?
I make this covenant before God that I will be faithful to you alone, I will comfort you in times of need, and I will always work to keep our marriage strong when loving you is simple and when it is difficult. As Ruth said, “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live… Wherever you die, I will die, and there I will be buried.
